I spoke with an Allied representative regarding my upcoming move. I explained to him that I did not want my neighbors knowing about my move yet so if you have any car magnets, baseball cap or a logo shirt with “Allied” written on it I would appreciate some privacy regarding my move. He said no problem. He shows up at my door a few days later and he has a small Allied box made up and he is carrying it under his arm!! I said remember our conversation? He said yes. I said come inside my house please. He said do you know what this is pointing to the box? I said it looks like a moving box to me. He said this is the last box you put on the moving van and the first one off the moving van once it gets to your destination. You should put stereo wires, tv remotes etc…in this box! I said I have moved 33 times and I am quite efficient with the way I pack.
I showed him around my house and I specifically pointed out that I wanted to make sure Allied Van Lines would take my house plants as I had quite a few and have had them for over 20 years. He said that will not be an issue and to leave top of box off and they will be loaded onto the van last, but he can not guarantee their survival. I said I will take my chances since they survived all my previous moves.
A few days later this representative from Allied said he needed to drop a few boxes off at my house. I was at work so I asked him if he could please lay the boxes flat on my front porch once again to keep my move on the down low. I get home at 5:30 and he had placed the boxes up against my front door with the Allied logo out there for everyone driving by to see!! I think it hurt his head when he tried to think.
The day of the move finally arrived. Kevin the driver shows up late ofcourse and half way through the move he tells me he can not take my plants. I had a plane to catch at the end of the day and did not have time to argue with this guy. I called some friends who came by later in the weekend and removed the plants from the house and to this day still have them.
Kevin and his helpers broke several items, damaged my 55″ screen TV and cracked 4 pieces of furniture. They were not “THE CAREFUL MOVERS” at all!! Not even close. I would not use their services ever again. Very bad experience from beginning to the end. You would think someone in the moving business would take pride in their job and make sure they transport your items with care. Very unprofessional.
